Daily Dose: Weyes Blood, "Everyday"

Daily Dose is your daily source for the song you absolutely, positively need to hear every day. Curated by the Paste Music Team.

Weyes Blood, aka Natalie Mering, is going with the blood flow in the vintage, slasher film-inspired video for her new single “Everyday,” taken from her forthcoming Sub Pop Records debut Titanic Rising, out April 5.

Approaching her fourth studio album with Titanic Rising, Mering is utilizing the grandness of her creative vision instead of doubting it. What a horror villain is to a cabin filled with pot smoke and sex, Mering is to previous concerns of “fitting in” within the indie-pop landscape.

Mering said in a statement:

There are complicated influences mixed in with more relatable nostalgic melodies. In my mind, my music feels so big, a true production. I’m not a huge, popular artist, but I feel like one when I’m in the studio. But it’s never taking away from the music. I’m just making a bigger space for myself.

The video for “Everyday,” which was also directed by Mering, is the actualization of that mentality.
